take me out

we're several months into spring, so close to summer, and i've only just checked a few items off our spring to-do list.  but this one was a good one.  we've been planning it for months, and it delivered.

kellie and i knew we wanted to go to the ballpark and watch a tigers game together with our families, and decided that a may game would be a good bet.  kellie is very pregnant, due the middle of august, and figured a hot day in june or july on bleachers in the direct sun wouldn't be a wise choice.  so we went with a sunday in may, figuring it would be warmish.

boy were we wrong.

we arrived only a few minutes into the game, but headed first to the ferris wheel since the line was short.  and there was a cool breeze way up high to beat the high 80s temps.

we then headed to our seats, snacked on several ball game goodies, and watched the game from our center field advantage for maybe 2 innings.  when the moms and girls got tired of feeling the sweat dripping down our backs, we felt it was high time to do some wandering.

we managed to make our way to the carousel, and stood in line for a ride.

the dads met us back at mickey mouse, and we decided we were heat exhausted enough to head out, despite not quite making the end of the game.  we caught the score, and tigers win, in the air conditioned car back home.

while the game and the food and the smiles on the girls were definitely worth it, kellie and i both decided that the very best part was the car ride to and from the game.  we sat in the very back row of our car, with the dads in front and the girls in the middle watching a show, and we got to talk.  talk for over an hour-and-a-half with minimal interruptions about things we haven't been able to catch up on in quite a while.  we have in the past gone out solo for drinks, dinner and dessert or to a movie just to  catch up and be on our own for a short time, but with kids and work and schedules and new babies, it's been much more difficult to escape.  but it's no excuse.  i miss it.

i can't stress the importance of girlfriends enough.  and i am so lucky to have a wealth of fabulous women in my life who have supported and cried and laughed and loved my girls.

kellie is having a boy, and i cannot to get my hands on the little guy.  to smell the new baby smell, sway back and forth and snuggle a new little.  check out kellie's view of our adventure here.

bubbles

warm weather equals the return of outdoor bubble blowing.  best to be done in pajamas and boots while prancing through the freshly weeded and ready-to-plant-in garden beds.

{beautiful littles}

attention!

Photobucket

it's time for another beautiful littles post.  it's been a while.  if you're new here, this is a post where i highlight all the little things we're loving lately.  so here goes...

{soccer} she's getting a bit more involved, although it basically takes me walking her out to the field, turning around and ignoring her crossed arms and scoured face for a few minutes.  then she'll mix in and follow along.  except when they play the monster game.  then she sidles over to my perch on the sidelines and hangs out til that game is finished.

Photobucket

{sisters} 'nuff said.

Photobucket

{pop} her lovey owl blanket is lovingly called "pop," and she can say call it by name.  she smiles with giddy delight when she spots it, and once it's in her hands, her thumb goes into her mouth.

Photobucket

{art} she's getting more talented by the day.  and she practices a lot.  i have the piles of art work to prove it.

Photobucket

{almost walking} 14 months old, and we're still not moving without assistance.  but we're getting there.

Photobucket Photobucket

{her face} i've been told a lot that she looks just like me.

Photobucket

{blooms} my favorite flowers are blooming in our yard, fragrant and beautiful.  i planted these peonies to remind me of our anniversary each spring's end that they bloom.  they take me back to our wedding day, and the happy memories that go with it.

Photobucket Photobucket

{maximus} my first "baby" was sick a couple of weeks ago. one day just started refusing his food, throwing up and not acting himself. turns out his food was on a recall list. so we tested him for salmonella and everything else under the sun, spent way too much time and money at the vet, but all came back negative. then one day, he went back to being maximus. no more sickness. and although we have no idea why he was sick, it doesn't matter now, cause all is well. and we are thankful.

til next time...

building

this post is way overdue.  back in march, we got the chance to attend a super fun birthday party.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

wyatt is only 2 days older than crosby, and we celebrated his first at the robot garage- a mecca land of legos, both big and small, with low to the ground tables and tons of building inspiration.

Photobucket

they even had a table robot on wheels who entered a garage and came out carrying a cupcake for the birthday boy.  so cool.

Photobucket

the kids loved it.

it reminded us that we need to pull our bins of legos out much more often.  kids can be so creative with the ideas they come up with to build.
